The opioid drug war – USA is losing

When it comes to the opioid drug war, the United States is losing. Every day hundreds of new victims are killed from opioid overdose . The President of the United States or POTUS has a finding called “clear and present danger.” This finding is used to defend the United States homeland from foreign threats using military force. POTUS has not yet created a finding for the opioid threat but it has to come. We need a finding that a clear and present danger exists within our own borders. We need to take action.

Invasion from within our borders

Our United States has been invaded from within and by foreign states. Within safety of our wonderful country, the United States protects the companies such as Insys Therapeutics. Insys owner, John Nath Kapoor is not even a native born US citizen.  He is a naturalized one who has profited from the production of a nasal spray form of fentanyl. While his storing is tragic and seems heartfelt.  Subsys, a sublingual spray of fentanyl for cancer patients is overdramatized. It is a medication that is abused and creates addiction.  My own mother died of cancer but she would not want to see thousands of deaths weekly from the opioid overdoses caused by the lethal drugs companies such as Insys Therapeutics manufactures.

Companies, such as Insys Therapeutics within our own borders are killing our citizens and profit from the opioid drug war . While the nightly news focuses on terrorism and its imminent threat, they ignore the real murderers. Insys Therapeutics is protected by US laws and our way of life.  As a country we allow them to profit from the addiction to opioid chemicals they produce. Insys Therapeutics is just one company that profits from the addictive fentanyl substance. Johnson and Johnson is another company which profits immensely from its subsidiary company, ALZA Corporation. ALZA is the company which produces Duragesic.

Opioid drug war is top killer of  US citizens

Duragesic is a transdermal patch which delivers fentanyl.  It is a major contributor of opioid tolerance abuse both by doctors and patients. In the fiscal year 2002-2003 according to Wikipedia, Duragesic sold more than $1,000,000,000 worth of the product.  Fast forward to 2017, we have candy like lozenges called Actiq. Drug companies deliver fentanyl via nasal spray, pill form, intravenous forms. Massive prescriptions are leading to unknown addicted people. Prescription pill addictions end up contributing to the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people. Major news magazine published an article on the opioid drug war. It was recognized by Newsweek this year in a article asking what is fentanyl? Newsweek tried to educate what millions of people already knew about. Thousands of families know what fentanyl is becasue it killed their child.

The USA has been losing the opioid drug war. A sad part is that it is still a side issue unlike ISIS terrorism. One study of the shows the opioid drug war has claimed 52,404 drug overdose deaths in 2015. That is ONE year. The war on terrorism which has killed according to the Cato Institute 3,432 people in the United States between 1975 and the end of 2015.  When the USA has spent billions of dollars on the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. With all of the money spent on wars, there are more people are killed within our countries borders. More people killed in the USA each year from drug profiting companies and cartels. These people are not killed because of terrorism.
